Champions Trophy 2025: Ibrahim Zadran Creates Record
It was a sensational batting performance by Afghanistan as they posted 326 for 7 in 50 overs during a do or die match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 26th February 2025.
Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and
decided to bat first. Jofra Archer got two big wickets dismissing Rahmanullah
Gurbaz taking an inside edge onto the stumps. He then produced a lovely
delivery to dismiss Sediqullah Atal leaving Afghanistan in trouble.
Ibrahim Zadran struggled against disciplined England bowling against Wood and Archer. Rahmat Shah also went cheaply providing a
simple catch to Adil Rashid at fine leg leaving Afghanistan in some trouble.
Ibrahim showed intent against the England bowlers along with
Hashmatullah Shahidi with singles and hitting big shots. The dashing right-handed
batter from Afghanistan reached his half-century off 65 deliveries. After
completing his milestone, Zadran increased the tempo of scoring hitting
boundaries and sixes with ease.
Afghan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi tried to hit a reverse sweep
but got dismissed by Adil Rashid. Ibrahim and Shahidi added 103 runs for the 4th
wicket to revive the innings.
Azamatullah Omarzai looked in great touch putting enough
pressure on the England bowling. Ibrahim kept calm taking singles reaching his
century of 106 deliveries. Zadran upped the ante hitting sixes and boundaries
with ease. Omarzai was dismissed caught by substitute Tom Banton at long-on.
Zadran and Omarzai added 72 runs for the 5th wicket.
Ibrahim showed his skills with power-hitting smashing Jofra
Archer for 23 runs in a single over changing the momentum for Afghan. Mohammad
Nabi also joined the party with lusty blows. Zadran completed his 150 off 134
deliveries keeping momentum going for Afghanistan.
It was a special innings by Ibrahim smashing England bowlers
all over the park. Mark Wood’s absence was felt during the death overs going
off the field. Ibrahim's brilliance ended dismissed for 177 off 146 deliveries
with 12 boundaries and 6 sixes. Zadran and Nabi added 111 runs for the 6th
wicket. Afghanistan ended the innings on 325 for 7 in 50 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran created many records during his special knock
against England. He registered the highest-ever indidvual score by a batter in
Champions Trophy history.
Ben Duckett smashed 165 against Australia at Gaddafi
Stadium, Lahore. Zadran registered the biggest ever score by an Afghan batter
in ODIs. He registered the highest score by a batter in CT history going past
Duckett’s 165 during their match against England at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
