Ranji Trophy 2024/25 Final Day 1: Great Day’s Of Cricket

 The first day of the Ranji Trophy finals between Vidarbha and Kerala was an exciting affair played at VCA Stadium, Jamtha on 26th February 2025.

Kerala captain Sachin Baby won the toss and decided to field first. It was an ideal start for the visitors as M Nidheesh struck early in the very first over dismissing Parth Rekhade in front of the stumps. Nideesh got his second wicket getting rid of Darshan Nalkande with a simple catch to Basil Thampi.

Dhruv Shorey looked positive with his strokes before Eden Tom got rid of him providing a simple catch to Mohammed Azharudden leaving Vidarbha in trouble at 24 for 3. Karun Nair and Danish Malewar played with attacking intent keeping pressure on the Kerala bowlers. Vidarbha batters ensured that they do not allow any chances. At the end of the first session, Karun Nair and Malewar ended at 81 for 3.

After the lunch break, Malewar made the batting look easy keeping scoreboard reading reaching his fifty off 104 deliveries. Karun Nair kept cool against disciplined Kerala bowlers keeping the momentum going for Vidarbha. Malewar played with an attacking approach hitting boundaries with ease hitting a century off 168 deliveries. Karun Nair and Malewar ensured that Vidarbha ended the 2nd session at 170 for 3.

The third session also began on a positive note as Karun Nair reached fifty off 125 balls. Malewar and Karun Nair kept the momentum going against disciplined bowling taking singles and hitting boundaries with ease.

Sachin Baby took the second new ball in the 82nd over. They struck immediately with Rohan Kunnumal's direct hit dismissing Karun Nair who wanted to run a bye. Karun Nair and Malewar added 215 runs for the 4th wicket ensuring Vidarbha recovered from a disastrous start.

Yash Thakur did the job as a nightwatchman while Danish Malewar continued his aggressive approach. Vidarbha ended the first day on 254 for 4.
