IPL 2025 Match 8: RCB register historic win on CSK soil
Royal
Challengers Bengaluru showed their domination as they registered a huge win
over Chennai Super Kings at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on the 28th
of March 2025.
CSK captain
Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to field first. Phil Salt showed
intent right from the word go putting pressure on Khaleel Ahmed keeping the
scoreboard ticking with aggressive intent. On the other hand, Kohli struggled
to hit shots. A quick piece of stumping by MS Dhoni ended the innings for Phil
Salt. Salt and Kohli added 45 runs for the opening wicket.
Devdutt
Paddikal looked impressive with his shots against Ravindra Jadeja keeping the
scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first six overs, RCB scored 56 for 1.
Paddikal kept
the momentum going for RCB hitting boundaries and not allowing the CSK bowlers
to settle. R Ashwin got the breakthrough dismissing Paddikal with a good catch
by Gaikwad. Paddikal and Kohli added 31 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Rajat
Patidar looked a little cautious initially before launching an assault on CSK
bowlers. Kohli attacked Pathirana keeping the momentum going for RCB. Noor
Ahmad struck getting rid of Kohli with a good catch by Rachin Ravindra. Kohli
and Patidar added 41 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Patidar was
lucky enough as he was dropped three times by CSK fielders. He took the attack
to CSK bowlers keeping the momentum going. Noor got rid of Liam Livingstone
with a lovely delivery.
Jitesh
Sharma also joined the party with attacking shots keeping momentum going for
CSK. Rajat Patidar made his fifty-off 30 deliveries. Pathirana bowled a superb 19th over
giving away just 1 run & picking 2 important wickets of Patidar & Krunal
Pandya.
Tim David
produced a superb cameo in the final over hitting 3 sixes to help RCB post 196
for 7 in 20 overs.

Bowling Effort by RCB bowlers
It was an
ideal start for RCB bowlers as Josh Hazlewood struck twice in one over getting
rid of Rahul Tripathi & captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Josh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar
kept a tight leash on CSK batters not allowing them to score runs easily.
Bhuvneshwar
struck dismissing Deepak Hooda via review for catch. The umpires did not give
out, and in review it was overturned to out. CSK struggled in the first six overs,
scoring just 30 for 3.
The
pressure kept mounting before Liam Livingstone got rid of Sam Curran with a
simple catch to Krunal Pandya at long-on. Rachin Ravindra looked in decent
touch while Shivam Dube came as an impact player replacing Pathirana.
Yash Dayal
got rid of both Rachin Ravindra & Shivam Dube to dent their chances of
winning. MS Dhoni provided some entertainment along with Ravindra Jadeja.
Hazlewood got his 3rd scalp dismissing Jadeja with a good catch by Salt. Jadeja
and MS Dhoni added 31 runs for the 8th wicket. Dhoni entertained the
crowd by hitting big shots against Krunal Pandya in the final over.
RCB
produced a resounding performance, winning the match by 50 runs. This was their
2nd win at Chepauk after 2008.
For his 51
off 32 balls, Rajat Patidar was named the player of the match award. RCB is at the
number 1 spot in the points table with 2 out of 2 wins.
RCB 196 for
7 in 20 overs (Rajat Patidar 51, Salt 32, Noor Ahmad 3/36) beat CSK 146 for 8
in 20 overs (Rachin Ravindra 41, MS Dhoni 30*, Josh Hazlewood 3/21) by 50 runs.
