NZ vs Pak 5th T20I: New Zealand Thrash Pakistan
New Zealand
registered a dominating win in the fifth and final T20I match against Pakistan
played at SKY Stadium, Wellington on 26th March 2025.
New Zealand
captain Micheal Bracewell won the toss and decided to field first. The pitch
had a lot of seam movement for the bowlers. Jacob Duffy got the breakthrough in
his first over getting the wicket of Hasan Nawaz with a good catch by James
Neesham at slips.
Ben Sears troubled
the Pakistani batters and eventually got rid of Mohammad Harris with a simple
catch to Mitchell Hay. Duffy struck for the second time dismissing Omair Bin Yosuf.
Pakistani batters struggled with the pace and bounce of the pitch. At the end
of the first six overs, Pakistan could only score 27 for 3.
Ish Sodhi
produced the magic with the wicket of Usman Khan with a simple catch to Daryl
Mitchell to leave Pakistan in deep trouble. James Neesham dismissed Abdul Samad,
keeping the visitors under immense pressure.
Pakistani
captain Salman Ali Agha showed intent along with Shahbad Khan. Both batters made
the batting look easy keeping the scoreboard ticking. Neesham ended the
partnership getting rid of Shahbad Khan providing a simple catch to Hay. Salman
and Shahbad Khan added 54 runs for the 6th wicket.
Salman Ali
Agha looked composed, reaching fifty off just 37 deliveries. Neesham produced
the magic getting the big wicket of Pakistan captain Agha. He got wickets of
Jahandad Khan and Haris Rauf. It was a remarkable bowling effort by Neesham to
finish with figures of 5 for 22 in 4 overs. New Zealand showed their class restricting
Pakistan to a modest total of 128 for 9 in 20 overs.
Tim Seifert
thrashed Pakistani bowling
Chasing a
modest total of 129 runs to win, Seifert began the innings with 18 runs in the
first over against Jahandad Khan. He showed intent putting enough pressure on
Pakistani bowlers. It was an amazing batting display by Seifert who showed his
hitting abilities.
On the
other hand, Finn Allen displayed power-hitting keeping the momentum going for New
Zealand. Seifert smashed fifty off just 23 deliveries not allowing any Pakistani
bowlers to settle. At the end of the first six overs, New Zealand raced away to
92 for 0.
Sufiyan
Muqeem got the breakthrough dismissing Finn Allen. Seifert & Allen added 93
runs for the opening wicket. Seifert plundered the Pakistani bowling smashing 3
successive sixes against Shahbad Khan. Mark Chapman failed to contribute much
in today’s match.
Seifert
remained unbeaten on 97 off 38 deliveries with 6 fours and 10 sixes with a stunning
strike rate of 255.26. New Zealand won the match by 8 wickets with 10 overs to
spare.
For his
maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is, James Neesham was named the player of the
match award. New Zealand sealed the 5-match T20I series by 4-1.
