Badminton Asia Championship 2025: Another Disappointing Day For Indian Shuttlers
The Indian
shuttlers had a disappointing outing as most of them were knocked out in the 2nd
round of the prestigious Badminton Asia Championship 2025 played at Ningbo,
China on 10th April.
Kiran George
went down fighting to Kulvant Vitisdarn of Thailand. The first game was a closely
fought affair as both players got alternate points. It ebbed and flowed till
the end before Kiran won the first set with a narrow scoreline of 21-19. Kulvant
showed his domination in the second game putting enough pressure on Kiran,
winning it easily by 21-13.
The third
game began on an even keel with both players fighting for each point. During
the mid-game break, Kulvant had a slender lead. After the break, it was a tough
fight before the Thai player showed his class to take points in succession to
win the deciding game by 21-16. It was a superb performance by Kiran who showed
great fighting spirit to take Kulvant right down the wire.
Pranshu
Rajawat suffered a straight-game loss to Kodai Naraoka of Japan. The Indian
looked out of sorts in the first set with unforced errors. Kodai won the first
game easily by 21-14. The second game saw a much-fought contest between 17-17. Kodai
scored 4 points in succession to win it by 21-17 to move into the
quarterfinals.
PV Sindhu
went down fighting to Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in three games. The first game
was a one-way traffic with Yamaguchi putting enough pressure on Sindhu. Yamaguchi
won the first game easily by 21-11. PV Sindhu made a strong comeback in the
second game playing aggressive badminton. Yamaguchi tried her best, but Sindhu
showed her class to win the second game with a scoreline of 21-16.
The third
game saw Yamaguchi starting on an aggressive note with 4 points in a row and continued
to maintain the momentum till the end. Despite her efforts, Yamaguchi held onto
her nerves winning the deciding game by 21-16 to move into the quarterfinals.
The mixed
doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila & Tanisha Crasto defeated HW Ye & NG
Chan of Chinese Taipei in three games. It was a terrible start for the Indian
pairing losing the first game by 12-21. Kapila and Tanisha made a strong comeback,
winning the next two games by 21-16, & 21-18 to move into the
quarterfinals. They will Hong Kong pair of Tang CM & Tse YS.
