Singapore Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag Enter Semi-Finals
The dynamic
Indian duo of Satwik/Chirag Shetty entered into the semi-finals with a
dominating win over new World number 1 Goh SF and Izzudin of Malaysia in the
Super 750 Singapore Open event played on 30th May 2025.
The first
game began with both pairs earning alternate points till 7-7. Satwik/Chirag Shetty
kept the pressure on the Malaysian pair with smashes not allowing them any
chances. At the mid-game break, Satwik/Chirag led 11-8. After the break, the
Indian pairing continued their domination briefly before Malaysian pair tried
to make a comeback. Satwik/Chirag won the first game comfortably by 21-17.
The second
game also began on a even keel with both pairs taking alternate points.
Satwik/Chirag Shetty dominated with excellent shots keeping the momentum going.
At the mid-game break, the Indian pair took a good lead. Malaysian pair put on
a decent effort to make a comeback; it was not enough as Satwik/Chirag won with
scoreline of 21-15 moving into the semi-finals.
Satwik/Chirag
is keeping India’s flag high at the Singapore Open. HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu,
Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand suffered losses in the second round of this
event yesterday.
The dynamic
duo will face Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia in the semi-finals.
Satwik/Chirag defeated 7th seeded Gutama and Isfahani in three games
with a scoreline of 19-21, 21-16, 21-19 to move into the quarterfinals.
Satwik/Chirag
would be looking to continue their superb form in the semi-finals after coming
back from an injury.
In other
results, An Se Young suffered straight game loss to Chen Yu Fei of China by
13-21, 16-21. Akane Yamaguchi won her quarterfinals match against Mitchell Li
of Canada in two straight games by 21-15, 22-20.
