Singapore Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag Loses In Thrilling Semi-Finals

 

The dynamic duo of Satwik/Chirag Shetty went down fighting in the semi-finals to the Malaysian pairing of Aaron Chia and Sooh Yi Wik during Super 750 Singapore Open played on 31st May 2025.

The first game saw both pairs earning alternate points. Both committed unforced errors before Satwik/Chirag showed domination keeping the Malaysian pair under immense pressure. At the mid-game break, the Indian pair led 11-8.

After the break, the match ebbed and flowed, but Satwik/Chirag continued to maintain 2-point lead. Sooh and Aaron fought back strongly to level the scores at 18-18. The Indian pairing held onto their nerves winning the first game with narrow scoreline of 21-19.

The Malaysian pair upped the ante right from the word go in the second game. They kept pressure with smashes taking a commanding 5-0 lead and maintained pressure consistently. At the mid-game break, Aaron and Sooh took a commanding 11-5 lead. After the interval, Malaysian pair maintained the pressure winning the second game comfortably with scoreline of 21-10.

It was a closely fought start from both pairs in the deciding game. Aaron and Sooh maintained the pressure with unforced errors by Satwik/Chirag Shetty. At the mid-game break, Malaysian pair had a commanding 11-6 lead. After the interval, Malaysian pair continued to pile the pressure on Satwik/Chirag.

Satwik/Chirag fought back saving 7 match points to dream a great comeback to reduce the gap to only 2 points. Sooh produced a lovely smash to help Malaysian pair win the deciding set at 21-18.

It was a good run by the Indian pairing who made a comeback after recovering from an injury that they suffered during the All-England Badminton Championship 2025.

Satwik/Chirag had a dream run in Singapore Open 2025. They defeated Choong HJ and M Haikal of Malaysia in the first round with 21-13, 21-16.

The Indian pairing defeated SK Gautama and Isfhani of Indonesia in three games by 21-19, 16-21, 21-19. After this they produced a dominating performance against world number 1 pair of Goh/Izzudin of Malaysia by 21-17, 21-15.

The Indian shuttlers will look to perform well in the Super 1000 Indonesia Open 2025 starting from 3rd June onwards.
