Indonesia Open 2025: PV Sindhu, Satwik/Chirag Enter Second Round
PV Sindhu and the men’s doubles pairing of
Satwik/Chirag Shetty entered the second round of the prestigious Super 1000
Indonesia Open 2025 played at Jakarta on 3rd June.
PV Sindhu
edged past Nozomi Okhuara in three thrilling games. The first game was a
closely fought encounter as both players took alternate points. They also
committed unforced errors. At the mid-game break, Sindhu took a slender lead.
After the break, the match ebbed and flowed before the Indian won the first
game by 22-20.
The second
game saw Okhuara keeping the pressure on Sindhu with lovely shots. In this game
also, both players committed unforced errors. At the mid-game break, the
Japanese had a good lead. After the break, both players continued to showcase
their skills. Sindhu could not close out as Okhuara saved match and won the
second game 23-21.
The third
game was another closely fought affair with both players fighting for each
point. Sindhu looked in control with long rallies keeping the Japanese under
pressure. At the mid-game break, the Indian took 11-9 lead. After the break, it
was one-way traffic as Sindhu won it comfortably by 21-15 to move into second
round. She will face Pornpawee Chochouwong of Thailand.
The men’s
doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty won their first-round match against Carnando
and Maulana in three thrilling games. Satwik/Chirag started the first game on an
aggressive note keeping pressure on Indonesian pair. Both pairs displayed
attacking badminton before Carnando and Maulana took a slender 11-10 lead.
After the break, Indonesian pair kept piling pressure with smashes to win the
first game by 21-18.
Maulana and
Carnando started the second game putting Indian pairing under immense pressure.
It was a dominating display by Indonesian pair taking a commanding 11-7 lead at
the break. After the break, Satwik/Chirag took 10 points in succession to make
a strong comeback and won second game by 21-18.
The third
game began off very well for both pairs taking alternate points. Satwik/Chirag
showed their class taking a commanding lead at the break. After the interval,
it was one-way traffic as Indian pair won it by 21-14 to move into second
round. They will face the winner of Aaron Chia/Sooh versus R Kjaer and Sogaard
of Denmark.
The other
Indian female shuttlers also suffered first round exits. Malvika Bansod retired
hurt mid-way against Wardani of Indonesia. The youngster showed her class
winning the first game comfortably by 21-16. Bansod displayed great attacking
badminton before retiring hurt as she was leading 16-15.
Anupama
Upadhyay also suffered first round exit to Kim Ga Eun of South Korea. It was a
dominating display by Kim winning it in two straight games by 21-15, 21-9.
Santosh
Ramraj went down in three sets to Kathenong of Thailand. Ramraj showed her
class playing attacking badminton winning the first game comfortably at 21-14.
Kathenong upped the ante putting pressure on Ramraj winning the second game by 21-15.
Despite
giving a tough fight in the third game, Ramraj struggled as Kathenong won by
21-12.
Lakshya Sen
suffered another first round exit to Shi Y Q of China in three games. The first
game was a dominating performance by Shi keeping pressure on the Indian winning
by 21-11.
The second
game witness another dominating display by Shi looking in complete control. Trailing
11-17, Sen displayed great courage to win it by 22-20 forcing into the deciding
game.
Shi Y Q continued
his aggressive approach in the third game keeping Sen under pressure. The
Chinese showed class to win decider by 21-15.
HS Prannoy
also suffered first round exit against hosts player Alwi Farhan in two straight
games. Both players began the first game on an even keel and continued to do
so. Farhan displayed attacking badminton to win the first game at 21-17.
The second
game also began well with both players fighting for each point. Farhan had a
slender 11-10 at the mid-game break. After the break, Farhan showed skills and
won comfortably by 21-18 to move into the second round.
