US Open Badminton 2025: Ayush Shetty Becomes Champion, Tanvi Sharma Finishes Runners-Up
The rising
Indian shuttlers Ayush Shetty became the champion while Tanvi Sharma finished
runners-up in the Super 300 US Open Badminton Tournament played at Council Bluffs,
Iwoa, United States of America on 29th June 2025.
Ayush
Shetty defeated Brian Young of Canada in two straight games. Brian began the
first game on a positive note putting pressure on Ayush. After initial struggle,
the 20-year-old Ayush showed intent with lovely shots with a 11-6 lead at the
mid-game interval. Brian Young made strong fightback to level the scores at 16-16.
Both players fought for each point before Ayush won the first game by 21-18.
Ayush began
the second game on a positive note with attacking shots not allowing any chance
for Brian. It was a dominating performance by the 20-year-old Ayush with 11-6
lead at the break. After the break, the Indian maintained pressure and won the
second game also by 21-13 to win his first title at the senior level.
Ayush
Shetty became the first Indian to win a title in 2025 season. It will bolster
his rankings in the race to BWF Super Series Finals.
Tanvi Sharma
Finishes Runners-Up
The 16-year-old
Tanvi Sharma finishes runners-up a really good performance against number 1
seeded Biewen Zhang of United States of America.
Biewen
Zhang began the first game on a positive note putting enough pressure on Tanvi
with smashes and keeping momentum going winning the first one comfortably by
21-11.
Tanvi
Sharma fought back strongly with some gusty performance putting enough pressure
on Zhang to win the second game at 21-16 to force the match into the deciding
set.
Zhang upped
her game in the third set and did not allow chances to Tanvi comeback into the
match to win it comfortably by 21-10 winning the title. Tanvi will be proud of
her performances against good quality players and will do wonder of good for
confidence.
Tanvi
became the first Indian female to reach the finals of Super Series Event in 2025.
