BWF World Championship 2025: Memorable Day For Indian Shuttlers

 

The Indian badminton contingent had a field day with all three players including PV Sindhu, Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila; Satwik/Chirag stunned their fancied opponents to enter the quarterfinals of BWF World Championship 2025 played at Paris on 28th August 2025.

The mixed doubles pairing of Dhruv Kapila & Tanisha Crasto stunned the 5th seeded Hong Kong pair CM Tang and YS Tse in three thrilling games. It was a great start for both pairs fighting for each point. At the mid-game break, Indian pair had slender 11-10 lead. After the break, both pairs fought for each point before Kapila and Crasto committed few mistakes to give Tang and Ys Tse the first game 21-19.

After decent start by both pairs in the initial stages of second game, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto upped their game to take a commanding 11-3 lead at the break. They continued the domination winning second game comfortably 21-12.

The third and deciding game saw both pairs fighting for each point right from the start before Indian pairing led by 11-10 at the break. After the interval, Kapila and Crasto looked confident with their shots putting Hong Kong pair under immense pressure to win with a comfortable 21-15 margin entering into their first quarterfinals of the BWF World Championship. They will face TJ Chen and EW Toh of Malaysia.

Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto are one win away from winning a medal in the BWF Championship history.

PV Sindhu showed her class stunning the world number 2 Wang Zhi of China in two straight games. Sindhu began first game on a positive note putting the Chinese under immense pressure with smashes keeping her opponent under check. Sindhu led 11-6 at the mid-game break.

After the interval, Wang fought back strongly to level the scores at 12-12. Both players fought for each point before Sindhu held onto her nerves winning first game 21-19.

The second game also began on an even keel with both players fighting for each point before Sindhu showed array of strokes to lead 11-6 at the break. Both players had a long 57 shots rally before the Indian played attacking strokes to close game out at 21-15 to move into the quarterfinals. She will now face Kusuma Wardani of Indonesia in the next.

The men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty stunned Liang and Wang of China in three thrilling games. Both pairs started off the first game on a positive note with alternate points before Wang and Liang showed intent taking commanding 11-6 lead at the break.

After the interval, Satwik/Chirag showed great intent to keep the Chinese pair under pressure reducing the margin before Liang and Wang won first game with close scoreline of 21-19.

Satwik/Chirag upped the ante in the second game putting the Chinese pair under immense pressure not allowing any chances. At the mid-game break, Indian pairing had 11-6 lead. After the break, Satwik/Chirag maintained pressure before winning second game at 21-15 to force the game into the decider.

Satwik/Chirag showed great spirit to level the scores at 6-6 after being 3-6 down. The match ebbed and flowed before Indian pairing took a slender 11-10 lead.

Satwik/Chirag fought back strongly after being 15-17 down took 6 successive points to win an amazing encounter by 21-17 to move into the quarterfinals. They will face Aaron Chia and Soh of Malaysia in another thrilling contest.

3.      Tanisha Crasto/Dhruv Kapila defeated CM Tang/Ys Tse (Mixed Doubles)- 19-21, 21-12, 21-15.
