Women’s team stunned Pakistan with a last ball thriller in the 2nd
T20I match played at Dublin on 8th August 2025.
Pakistan
captain Fatima Sana won the toss and decided to bat first. Muneeba Ali and
Shawaal Zulfiqar made a solid start keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end
of the first six overs, both openers reached 44 for 0.
Cara Murray
got the much-needed wicket for Ireland getting rid of Zulfiqar with a simple
catch to Gaby Lewis. Muneeba and Zulfiqar added 62 runs for opening wicket. Pakistan
lost the wicket of other opener Muneeba Ali soon. Eyman Fatima and Natalia Pervaiz
steadied the ship for Pakistan keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Lara
McBride struck again to dismiss Eyman Fatima. Eyman Fatima and Natalia Pervaiz
put on 43 runs for the 3rd wicket. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana kept
the momentum going with attacking shots along with Natalia Pervaiz. Both
batters put on 30 runs for the 4th wicket before Natalia Pervaiz
fell.
Tuba Hasan and
Rameen Shamim added valuable runs to help Pakistan post 168 for 6 in 20 overs.
For Ireland women, Cara Murray and Lara McBride took 2 wickets each.
Chasing 169
runs to win, Ireland women got off to shaky start as Amy Hunter was run out
with a mix-up. Gaby Lewis and Orla Prendergast showed intent putting the bad
deliveries away for boundaries. Rameen Shamim got two quick wickets of Gaby
Lewis and Leah Paul in the same over to leave Ireland women in trouble at 35
for 3 in 6 overs.
Orla Prendergast
and Laura Delany steadied the ship for Ireland women taking singles and hitting
big shots. Both batters made batting look easy with required rate climbing up.
Prendergast
completed her fifty off just 32 balls to keep Ireland hopes alive. Rameen
Shamim got the massive wicket of Orla with a good catch by Eyman Fatima. Orla
Prendergast and Laura Delany added 76 runs for the 4th wicket.
Rebecca Stokell showed her class with attacking shots along with Laura Delany.
Stokell
looked in sublime touch keeping the scoreboard ticking making sure that Ireland
women were on course for a famous win. Pakistani captain Fatima Sana got the
massive wicket of Laura Delany to give some hopes. Stokell and Laura Delany
added 49 runs for the 5th wicket.
With 4 runs
required off the final delivery, Jane Maguire hit a six to help Ireland women
beat Pakistan by 4 wickets.

named the player of the match for her unbeaten 34 off 16 deliveries.
