Zimbabwe and Namibia Qualify For The ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Namibia and Zimbabwe became the two teams from the Africa qualifiers to make into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be played in India and Sri Lanka.

Namibia qualified for their fourth successive T20 World Cup with a dominating 63 run win over Tanzania in the first semi-finals played at Harare Sports Club, Harare on 2nd October 2025.

Tanzania captain Abhik Patwa won the toss and decided to field first. After a decent start by Namibia, they looked in deep trouble at 41 for 4 before captain Gerhard Erasmus and JJ Smit steadied the ship putting the Tanzania bowlers under pressure.

Erasmus and JJ Smit put on 88 runs for the 5th wicket which steadied the ship for Namibia. JJ Smit played a brilliant knock remaining not out on 61 off 43 balls with 1 four and 4 sixes which helped Namibia post 174 for 6 in 20 overs. JJ Smit and Zane Green added unbeaten 45 runs for the 7th wicket.

Namibia bowlers never allowed the Tanzania batters to score runs easily and kept picking wickets at regular intervals. JJ Smit and Ben Shikongo took 3 wickets each to restrict the opponent to 111 for 8 in 20 overs.  JJ Smit was named the player of the match award for his unbeaten 61 off 43 balls and 3 for 16 in 4 overs.

Zimbabwe enters into the Men’s T20 World Cup again

After missing last year’s T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe made it into the 2026 T20 World Cup with a dominating 7 wicket win over Kenya in the 2nd semi-finals played at Harare on 2nd October 2025.

Kenya captain Dhiren Gondaria won the toss and decided to bat first. It was a disappointing batting performance by Kenya as they made just 122 for 6 in 20 overs. Rakep Patel was the main contributor with 65 off 47 balls, but rest of Kenya batters struggled to score runs. Blessing Muzarbani was pick of bowlers with 2 for 19 in 4 overs.

Chasing 123 runs to win, Brian Bennett and Marumani got Zimbabwe off to perfect start putting the Kenyan bowlers under immense pressure. They added 76 runs in just 6.2 overs laying a strong foundation with a comfortable win.

Zimbabwe won the match easily by 7 wickets with 30 balls to spare. Brian Bennett scored quickfire 51 off 25 balls which helped Zimbabwe register an easy win and sealed spot in next year’s prestigious tournament.
