Namibia and
Zimbabwe became the two teams from the Africa qualifiers to make into the ICC
Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be played in India and Sri Lanka.
Namibia qualified
for their fourth successive T20 World Cup with a dominating 63 run win over Tanzania
in the first semi-finals played at Harare Sports Club, Harare on 2nd

Tanzania captain
Abhik Patwa won the toss and decided to field first. After a decent start by
Namibia, they looked in deep trouble at 41 for 4 before captain Gerhard Erasmus
and JJ Smit steadied the ship putting the Tanzania bowlers under pressure.
Erasmus and
JJ Smit put on 88 runs for the 5th wicket which steadied the ship
for Namibia. JJ Smit played a brilliant knock remaining not out on 61 off 43 balls
with 1 four and 4 sixes which helped Namibia post 174 for 6 in 20 overs. JJ
Smit and Zane Green added unbeaten 45 runs for the 7th wicket.
Namibia
bowlers never allowed the Tanzania batters to score runs easily and kept
picking wickets at regular intervals. JJ Smit and Ben Shikongo took 3 wickets
each to restrict the opponent to 111 for 8 in 20 overs. JJ Smit was named the player of the match
award for his unbeaten 61 off 43 balls and 3 for 16 in 4 overs.
