Japan Masters 2025: Lakshya Sen Enter Quarters, HS Prannoy knocked out

 

Lakshya Sen entered into the quarterfinals with a dominating performance while HS Prannoy knocked out of Super 500 Japan Masters played at Kumamoto, Japan on 13th November 2025.

Lakshya Sen and Jason fought for each point right from the word go. At the mid-game break, Sen had a slender lead over his opponent. It was a closely fought affair till 14-13 in favor of the Indian before taking 7 successive points to win first game at 21-13.

The second game saw Lakshya continued his dominating performance never allowing any chances for Jason with a commanding 11-3 lead at the break. After the interval, it was one-way traffic as Sen won with ease by 21-11 to move into the quarterfinals. He will face Loh Kiean Yew of Singapore.

The veteran shuttler HS Prannoy suffered a straight game loss to Rasmus Gemke. It was a close fought affair in the first game as both players took alternate points. At the mid-game break, Prannoy led 11-8. After the break, Gemke produced a stunning comeback with long rallies and keeping the Indian under pressure. Prannoy struggled with fitness and lost the first game by 18-21.

The second game saw HS Prannoy had a decent lead at the start before he lost stem and struggled to put past his opponent. Prannoy lost second game by 15-21 as it was third successive loss for the Indian against Gemke in seven encounters.

Prannoy has struggling for form in 2025 not able going past second round in any of 15 BWF World Tour appearances including seven first round exits.

Sen would be looking to keep the Indian flag flying high as he will face former champion Loh Kiean Yew of Singapore in quarterfinals.

Ayush Shetty, Tharun Mannepalli, Kiran George, Rohan Kapoor/Shivani Gadde suffered losses in the first round on Wednesday.
