India Open 2026 Day 1: Good Day For Indian Shuttlers

The Indian shuttlers had a good outing as 3 out of 4 entered into the second round of the Super 750 India Open played at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 13th January 2026.

Lakshya Sen defeated Ayush Shetty in all Indian clash with an impressive performance winning the match comfortably. Sen showed his experience winning the first game by 21-12. Ayush Shetty started the second game on a positive note before Sen came up with some lovely shots and put Ayush under pressure to win it comfortably by 21-15 to move into second round. He will face Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.

The men’s doubles pairing of H Amsakarunan and MR Arjun stunned higher ranked Malaysian pair of Ong YS and Teo EY in two straight games. It was a dominating performance for Amsakarunan and Arjun who played attacking badminton and kept their opponents under pressure to win with scoreline of 21-15, 21-18. They will now face Liang WK and Wang C of China.

The women’s doubles pairing of Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Jongsathapornparn and Suwchai of Thailand in two straight games. It was a dominating performance by Indian pairing winning with scoreline of 21-11, 21-15 to move into second round. They will face Li YJ and Luo XM of China.

Satwik/Chirag Shetty got walkover as their opponents Chen Z Y and P Smith did not take part due to an injury.

However, it was curtains for the P Konjenbgam and Shruti Mishra went down fighting to Lui LL and Tsang HY in three thrilling games. The first game saw Hong Kong pair producing a dominating display winning by scoreline of 21-11.

The second game was a closely fought affair with both pairs fighting for each point before Konjenbgam and Mishra won by 22-20. It was another closely affair in the third and deciding game but this time, Lui and Tsang held onto their nerves to win by 24-22.

HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu, Dhruv Kapila/Tanisha Crasto, Tanvi Sharma and few other Indian shuttlers will feature in the first round tomorrow.

5.      P Konjenbgam/S Mishra lost to Lui LL and Tsang HY (Women’s Doubles)- 11-21, 22-20, 22-24.

The best all-rounder in limited-overs format from Bangladesh, Shakib AL Hasan picked the best figures in Caribbean Premier League history played at Bridgetown, Barbados on 3 rd August 2013. In this match, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steels captain Dwayne Bravo won the toss and decided to bat first. Shakib AL Hasan was bought into the attack in the 6 th over and immediately struck by getting rid of experienced Ross Taylor. He did not allow Red Steels batsmen to score runs easily. Indonesia Open 2025: Satwik/Chirag Enter Quarters, Others Crash Out

  The men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag entered the quarterfinals while other 3 Indians lost in the 2 nd round of the Super 1000 Indonesia Open played at Jakarta on 5 th June 2025. Satwik/Chirag Shetty edged past R Kjaer and Sogaard of Denmark in three games. The first game began with both pairs fighting for each point. Kjaer and Sogaard displayed great service skills. Satwik/Chirag fought back strongly to make a comeback. At the mid-game break, Danish pair led 11-10. After the break, Kjaer and Sogaard played brilliant badminton winning the first game by 21-16.
