All England Badminton Championship 2026: Lakshya Sen Journey
Lakshya Sen
had a memorable All England badminton championship 2026 finishing runners-up
played at Birmingham that ended on 8th March.
Before this
tournament, Sen struggled with his performances. He was pitted with Shi Y Q of
China in the first round. The first match was a thriller as Sen won the first
game with 23-21 scoreline. It was a closely fought second game before Shi won
it by 21-19. Sen showed domination in the decider to win the match by 21-17.
Sen then
faced Na Ka Long Anus of Hong Kong in the second round. The match ebbed and
flowed right from the word go in the first game. Sen held onto his nerves to
win the first game by 21-19. The second game saw Lakshya going to win, but Long
Anus fought back strongly to win it by 23-21. Sen then produced a dominating
performance in the decider to win with a comfortable 21-10 scoreline to move
into the quarterfinals.
Lakshya Sen
then produced masterclass performance in the quarterfinals defeating 6th
ranked Li Shifeng of China. He made life tough for his opponent to win in straight
games of 21-13, 21-16 to move into the top four stage.
Sen edged
past Victor Lai in a 1 hour and 37 marathon match during the semi-finals. There
were long rallies right from the word go with Sen winning first game by 21-16. Both
players fought for each point with long rallies before Lai held to his nerves winning
with 21-18 scoreline.
Sen
struggled with blisters, blood, but fought back strongly to win the third and
deciding game by 21-15 to move his 2nd All England badminton
championship finals.
He struggled
in the finals against Lin C Y of Chinese Taipei. Sen looked out of sorts in the
first game with 15-21 loss. The second game was a closely fought affair with
both players fighting for each point before Lin held to his nerves to win by 22-20.
Lakshya Sen
finished runners-up for the second time. It was a remarkable performance by
star Indian shuttler.
