FIH Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2026: Indian Women’s Team Officially Make It into World Cup

The Indian women’s hockey team officially sealed their place in this year’s prestigious World Cup with a 1-0 win over Italy during the 2nd semi-finals of qualifiers played at Hyderabad on 13th March 2026.

It was not an ideal start for the Indian team with Vaishnavi Phalke twisted her ankle and limped off the field while Italy defender pushed her from the back. Lola Brea hits the first shot which was saved by Bichu Devi. Indian team had few circle penetrations but did not yield anything. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0.

The second quarter saw Indian team began with aggressive intent but Italian defense thwarted the danger. India earned their first penalty corner as Navneet Kaur hit a powerful dragflick but Italian goalkeeper made a lovely save. It was an aggressive game by Indian team with 2 penalty corners in quick succession, but did not yield anything. At the end of the first half, scores still remained 0-0. India dominated with circle penetration with 12 as compared to 5 by Italy.

Italy looked threatening with a lovely move but Bichu Devi made a lovely save. After consistent pressure, India eventually got the first goal with penalty corner as Manisha Chahuan scored from deflection goal in the 40th minute. Soon after, Indian team earned two back-to-back PC’s but did not yield anything. At the end of the third quarter, India led 1-0.

It was an ideal start for Indian team in the fourth with a penalty corner, but Italian goalkeeper made a stunning save. India kept the pressure with positive moves making life tough for the opponents. With 1 minute left in the match, Italy earned their first penalty corner as the dragflick was brilliantly was saved by Bichu Devi which allowed the hosts a sigh of relief. At the end of fourth quarter, India won with 1-0 scoreline and qualify for the FIH World Cup 2026 to be played in Belgium and Netherlands.

The hosts India will face England in the grand finale of FIH World Cup qualifiers to be played on 14th March 2026.

These days the Kabaddi World Cup in which India won gold medal made the country proud., but the audiences in India are were able to see the matches but the scores are there in Facebook which shows that that this sport needs backing of the government and also some sponsorship so that this game gains popularity. India which is a champ in Kabddai has done so well in the Asian games winning both gold medal in men's and women's section.Most of the games like Cricket, Hockey especially World Cups is telecasted and there are pre and post shows related to a particular match. I am sure that the people of India must know the game and be proud of the players achievement. Friends in the new college

The new college in which I am studying that is Indria Gandhi National open university(IGNOU) has been a great exprience for me as I have made 4 to 5 good friends with whom i go around these days. When I go to college i pick up them and also come with them in a metro. Sheeba, Prachi, Radhika and Sourabh and also other are my good friends.
