Orleans Masters 2026 Day 2: Good Day For Indian Shuttlers

 

It was a good day for Indian shuttlers as 6 out of 11 made into the second round of Super 300 Orleans Masters 2026 played at France on 18th March.

Ayush Shetty defeated his counter-part Kiran George in a hard fought three games. Ayush began the first game on a positive note keeping pressure on George. It was a tremendous comeback by George with some attacking play and won the first game by 21-17.

Ayush showed his domination in the second game putting George under pressure and never allowed sniff to win it comfortably by 21-10. The third and final game saw Ayush began on a positive note, despite George valiant effort, Ayush won with 21-17 scoreline to move into the second round. He will face Y Okimoto of Japan.

Tanvi Sharma stunned 2nd seeded Supinda Kathenong of Thailand in two straight games. Supinda began the first game with aggression keeping Tanvi under immense pressure with a commanding 9-3 lead. Tanvi fought back strongly with 6 successive points to level the scores at 9-9. At the mid-game break, Supinda led 11-10. After the break, Tanvi showed great courage keeping her under pressure. The Swiss Open winner, Supinda fought back strongly, but Tanvi held onto her nerves to win with 21-18 scoreline.

The second game was a closely fought affair with both players fighting for each point. With the scoreboard reading 14-12 in favor of Tanvi, Supinda retired hurt due to an injury.

Anmol Kharb went into the second round with a comfortable straight game win over N Arin of Turkey. Kharb displayed great badminton right from word go and never allowed Arin any chances to win with 21-12, 21-16 scoreline. Tanvi Sharma and Anmol Kharb will face each other in 2nd round.

Malvika Bansod defeated Sung S Y of Chinese Taipei in two straight games. Malvika looked impressive right from the word go keeping her opponent under immense pressure. Bansod responded well under pressure winning with 21-18, 21-14 scoreline to move into 2nd round. She will face L C Wong of Malaysia.

Ishrani Burah defeated A Schultz of Denmark in two straight games. Schultz began the first game on a positive note with commanding lead at the interval. After break, it looked that Schultz would take the first game, but Ishrani made a stunning comeback from 10-15 down level score at 15-15. Both players fought for each point before Burah held onto her nerves to win it by 21-19.

This time around, Burah began the second game on a good note. Both players fought for each point with Indian taking lead at break. Despite some fight shown by Schultz, Burah won the second game with same scoreline of 21-19 to move into 2nd round. She will face WY Zhang of Canada.

The mixed doubles pairing of Rohan Kapoor/Shivani Gadde won their first-round match against Tsai FC and Sung Y-hs. Tsai and Sung showed some spark initially before Rohan and Shivani kept fighting back. After the break, Indian pairing dominated their opponents winning first game easily by 21-15.

Rohan and Shivani produced a dominating display in the 2nd game as they never allowed their opponents any chances to win by 21-9 to move into 2nd round. They will face number 1 seeded Thomas Giquel/Delrue of France.

However, it was curtains for Devika Sihag who lost to So Y Happy of Hong Kong in three games. The first game saw Devika showing her skills putting So under pressure winning easily by 21-15. So showed her domination in the 2nd game not allowing any chances to Devika winning by 21-14. Despite some resistance in the 3rd game, So looked impressive to win the 3rd game by 21-15.

Santosh Ramraj struggled against M Suizu of Japan in two straight games. The first game was one-sided affair as Suizu won it with ease by 21-9. It was a much-better effort by Ramraj in second game, but Japanese looked impressive winning with 21-15 scoreline.

Srikanth Kidambi suffered a straight game loss to M Johannesen of Denmark. Srikanth began on a positive initially before Johannesen showed domination keeping the Indian under pressure. It was one-way traffic as Kidambi lost by 12-21, 10-21.

Akarshi Kashyap suffered a straight game loss to Yeo Ja Min of Singapore. The first game saw Kashyap starting well before losing the plot as the Indian suffered 18-21 loss. It was a disappointing performance by Kashyap in 2nd game losing with big 10-21 scoreline.

Tharun Mannepalli went down to Tzu Wang Wei of Chinese Taipei in three games. The first game saw a closely affair with both players fighting for each point before Tzu won it easily by 21-18. The second game saw closely fought contest before Tharun Mannepalli showed his class winning with 21-14 scoreline.

Tharun Mannepalli had a great start to the third putting Tzu under immense pressure. At the mid-game break, Tharun took commanding lead. After the break, Tharun looked to take the match away with 20-18 lead before Tzu fought back strongly to win third game by 23-21 and move into 2nd round.

6.      Rohan Kapoor/Shivani Gadde defeated Tsai FC/Sung Ys (Mixed Doubles)- 21-15, 21-9

7.      Devika Sihag lost to So Y Happy (Women’s Singles)- 21-15, 14-21, 15-21

8.      Santosh Ramraj lost to M Suizu (Women’s Singles)- 9-21, 15-21

9.      Kidambi Srikanth lost to M Johannesen (Men’s Singles)- 12-21, 10-21.

10. Akarshi Kashyap lost to Yeo Ja Min (Women’s Singles)- 18-21, 10-21.

11. Tharun Mannepalli lost to Tzu Wang Wei (Men’s Singles)- 18-21, 21-14, 21-23.








Ayush Shetty along with 5 others qualify for the 2nd round of Super 300 Orleans Masters 2026.
