The most awaited Champions Trophy tournament is just less than 2 days away with top 8 teams in the world taking on each other starting from 1 st June with Bangladesh facing the hosts England at Oval, London. After 2011, the Indian badminton team reached the knockout stages of the prestigious Sudirman Cup 2017 held in Gold Coast, Australia. India played 2 matches losing to Denmark 1-4 and then outplaying Indonesia in the second match by the same margin. Despite Indonesia winning their match against Denmark by 3-2, the number of points mattered as the Indian team as they have 5 matches won and 5 lost. The Champions Trophy was called the ICC Knockout tournament in 1998 and 2000. There have been 7 editions of this prestigious tournament. South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand have won the Champions Trophy title once while Australia have won it twice in 2006 and 2009. India shared the title with Sri Lanka in 2002 and then won it in 2013. Deepti Sharma registers the second highest individual score in women's ODI cricket

Deepti Sharma was in an imperious mood today against Ireland in the Quadrangular match at Potchefstroom. She became the second highest individual scorer in women's ODI history smashing the Irish bowlers to all parts of the ground with 188 runs off 160 balls with 27 boundaries and 2 sixes.    The left-handed batswomen shared a record a 320 runs partnership for the first wicket with Poonam Raut who was retired hurt on 109 in 116 balls with 11 fours. It is the highest partnership for any wicket in women's cricket breaking the record of Sarah Taylor and CMG Atkins for the 1st wicket of 268 against South Africa on 8th August 2008.    The 19-year-old girl made the life tough for Irish scoring 50 off 82 balls. The Indian team   are   the defending Champions of this tournament that they won in 2013 under the captain of MS Dhoni. The selectors have gone with experience for this big tournament. The BCCI have announced a 15 men squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy to be held in England from June 1st. Rohit Sharma who played its last One-day international in October last year against New Zealand makes a comeback while Shikhar Dhawan joins him as the second opener. Rahane who has done well in England will be the third backup opener. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have done well in the 10th edition of IPL so far.  The middle order looks very strong with the likes of Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya completes the list. Virat Kohli has been in poor form during IPL 10. Since the inception of IPL in 2008, it has been a great platform for young Indian players like Axar Patel, Sandeep Sharma to showcase their talent to the world and have represented the Indian national team.
