Australian women versus Sri Lankan women 1st T20I: All-round Australia beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs

It was an amazing start to the home season as Australian women started the T20I series with a comfortable 41 run win over Sri Lanka played at North Oval, Sydney on Sunday. Australian captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bat first. Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy got the team off to a flying start putting on Sri Lankan bowlers right from word go. At the end of 6 overs, both openers took them to 64 for 0. After the power play overs, Ranasinghe got the breakthrough dismissing Healy for 43 off 21 balls. Australian openers added 72 runs in 6.3 overs. Ranasinghe struck again by getting the big wicket of Meg Lanning cheaply for 1. Gardner came to the crease and took the attack to Sri Lankan bowlers. Beth Mooney continued her aggressive intent to reach her fifty off 33 balls. After reaching her fifty, Gardner and Mooney smashed the Sri Lankan bowling attack. The Indian challenge ended as Parupalli Kashyap lost to World number 1 Kento Momota in the semi-finals of Super 500 Korea Open played at Incheon, South Korea on Saturday. Momota produced a dominating display against Kashyap and won the match easily. In the first game, the Indian played some lovely shots but could match the speed of the Japanese. Kento Momota led 11-7 at the interval. After the break, the World number 1 Momota continued his domination over Kashyap and showed his class with a variety of strokes. The Japanese won the first game at 21-13. The second game saw Kashyap started off to a slow start as Momota took advantage of the mistakes that the Indian made. Parupalli Kashyap progressed into the semi-finals of the Super 500 Korea Open with an easy win over Denmark Jan O Jorgensen in straight sets at 24-22, 21-8 played at Incheon, South Korea on Friday. In the first game, both players started on even keel taking alternate points till 4-4. Jan Jorgensen stepped up his game with aggressive strokes and mistakes from Kashyap. At the interval, the Denmark player-led 11-8. After the interval, Kashyap equaled the score at 11-11. Both players fought for each point until 22-22. The Indian took 2 points in succession to take the first game at 24-22. The second game saw Kashyap play aggressive badminton right from word go and never allowed his opponent to play his natural game. At the interval, the Indian led 11-7. He made his first-class debut for Gujarat against Vidarbha in October during the 2013-14 season. In that season, Bumrah took 38 wickets from 8 matches and created havoc among opposition batsmen. Before entering the Test arena, Bumrah made his T20I and ODI debut during the 2016 tour of Australia. He was impressive with his pace and accuracy. Parupalli Kashyap defeated Darren Liew of Malaysia to enter the quarterfinals of the Super 500 Korea Open played at Incheon on Thursday. Kashyap won the match in three sets by 21-17, 11-21, 21-12 last for 56 minutes. Kashyap had a great start to the first game playing aggressive badminton and not allowing the Malaysian opponent to play his natural game. The Indian won the first game easily at 21-17. In the 2 nd  the game, Darren Liew came back strongly to produce a dominating display and won the 2 nd game easily at 21-11 to force the match into a decider. In the deciding game, it was a dominating display by the Indian who showed his class and won the game and match easily to progress into the quarterfinals. It was a disappointing day for the Indian contingent as PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Sai Praneeth crashed out in the first round of the Super 500 tournament played at Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday. In the women’s singles, PV Sindhu lost to Zheng Biewen of The USA in three sets by 21-7, 22-24, 15-21 to be knocked out in the first round. The World Championship showed aggression in the first game and won it easily by 21-7. In the second set, both players fought for each point. Sindhu had a match point but Zheng did not give up and won the 2 nd set by 24-22. In the third and deciding game, the Indian lost the plot and was knocked out in the first round. Saina Nehwal also lost to Kim Ga Eun of South Korea in three sets by 21-19, 18-21, 1-8 retired. The first game was a close-fought game as Saina held her nerves to win the first set at 21-19. The Indian eves started the home season with a thrilling 11 run win in the first T20I played at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat on Tuesday. South Africa women captain Sunne Luus won the toss and decided to field first. The decision paid off as Shabnam Ismail got the early wicket dismissing Shafali Verma on the fourth ball of the innings. Smriti Mandhana played some lovely shots putting pressure on South Africa bowlers. To hit the third successive boundary, Mandhana was dismissed by Shangase for 21. It was an amazing day on the badminton court as 4 matches went right down the wire in the finals of the Super 1000 China Open 2019 played at Changzhou on 22nd September.  Mixed doubles In all Chinese affair, World number 1 Zheng Siewei and Huang Yaqiong defeated the world number 2 pair of Wang Yilu and Huang Dongping in three sets by 21-17, 13-21, 21-16. It was an amazing performance by World number 1 who played with aggression and showed their dominance in the 1 st set winning it 21-17. In the 2 nd set, Wang and Dongping came back strongly to win it easily 21-13 to force the match into the decider. In the deciding game, the world number 1 made attacking moves and put pressure on the other pair. Zheng and Huang won the 3 rd set at 21-16 to win a grand slam of Super 1000 events in 2019. South Africa produced a dominating performance to level the T20I series with a convincing 9 wicket in the third and final match played at M Chinnamy Stadium, Bangalore on Sunday. Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan made an aggressive start to the innings putting pressure on South African bowlers. Bangladesh tasted success against Afghanistan winning the last league game of the tournament by 4 wickets at Zahur Chaudhary Ahmed Stadium, Chattgroam on Saturday. Bangladesh captain Shakib AL Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first. Afghanistan openers Hazaratullah Zazai and Gurbaz struggled in the first 3 overs. It was a great start by the World Championship, Sindhu who took a 6-1 lead. From 3-8 down, the Chinese took 5 points in succession to level the scores at 8-8. Both England and Australia have earned 56 points in the Test series that is a part of the ICC Test Championship.
