India announces squad for Hockey World Cup 2023
The Indian men’s hockey team announced their squad for the 2023 World Cup to be played in Rourkela and Bhuvneshwar starting on 13 th January and till 29 th January. Harmanpreet Singh will lead the squad and hopes to bring success in front of home crowd. The goalkeepers include experienced P Sreejesh and Krishna Pathak. The forwards include Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh. Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Nilam Sanjeep comprise defenders. Varun Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh comprises drag flickers. Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Nilkanta Sharma, Shamsher Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Akashdeep Singh comprises midfielders. The Indian team would hope to perform well in home conditions as they won their only World Cup title in 1975. They have been clubbed in Group D along with England, Spain, and Wales.
