BWF World Championship Day 3: Indian shuttlers progress into next round

 It was a superb day for the Indian shuttlers as most of them made it into the next round of the BWF World Championship 2021 played at Carolina Marin Stadium, Huelva, Spain on Tuesday. Lakshya Sen stunned higher-ranked Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in a thrilling three games. Both players started the match with long rallies as the Japanese took the initial lead before Sen put pressure on Nishimoto. The Indian showed great fighting spirit to comeback equalling the scores at 10-10. At the mid-game interval, Nishimoto had a slender 11-10 lead. After the break, the match ebbed and flow as both players fought for each point. Sen took a 20-18 lead before losing 2 points before taking the next 2 points to win the first game by 22-20.  The opening match of the Asian Men’s Hockey Trophy between India and South Korea ended in a thrilling draw played at Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium, Dhaka on Tuesday.  Lalit Kumar Upadhyay put the Indian team in front with a brilliant field goal in the 3 rd minute. After that goal, the team continued to attack but the South Korean goalkeeper made brilliant saves to deny India doubled the lead. India went into the first quarter with a 1-0 lead. The second quarter also began off well for the Indian team with more circle penetrations, but the South Korean goalkeeper kept them at bay. India earned their first penalty corner but did not yield any results. Despite brilliant efforts by the Indian team, Korea's defense was solid. At the end of the first half, India still led 1-0.  The Australian Cricket Team started the second cycle of the ICC World Championship with a dominating 9 wicket win over England on the 4 th day of the 1 st Test match played at Gabba, Brisbane on Saturday. Nathan Lyon got the major milestone of picking 400 Test wickets dismissing Malan taking the inside edge to Labuschagne at short leg. Malan and Root added 162 runs for the 3 rd wicket. Soon after, Cameron Green produced a good delivery to get rid of England captain Joe Root to leave England in massive trouble.  Lyon took his 2 nd wicket dismissing Ollie Pope with a simple catch at slips.  After two horrible days, the England Cricket Team made a strong comeback with a solid partnership between Malan and Root on the 3 rd day of the 1 st Ashes Test match played at Gabba, Brisbane on Friday. Starting on the overnight score of 343 for 7, Mitchell Starc played with intent and put the England bowlers under immense pressure with big shots. On the other hand, Travis Head also scored runs with ease making life tough for the visitors. England finally ended a brilliant 85 runs partnership for the 8 th wicket as Woakes got rid of Starc caught by Haseeb Hameed at deep square leg.  Thanks to brilliant knocks by Warner, Labuschagne, and Head, Australia ended the 2 nd day of the 1 st Ashes Test match in a commanding position played at Gabba, Brisbane on Thursday. Ollie Robinson got the early breakthrough for England getting rid of Marcus Harris with a good catch at slips. Robinson kept on producing nagging lines against Warner and Labuschagne. After surviving the initial spell by England pacers, Warner and Labuschagne did not allow Jack Leach to settle hitting him for runs keeping the pressure on England captain Joe Root.  The Board of Cricket Control for India announced a strong squad to face South Africa in the 3 match Test series starting from 26 th December at Centurion. Despite Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel being ruled out of the series due to injuries, the Indian team looks solid with the likes of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Mayank Agarwal as openers.
