India Open 2024: HS Prannoy, Satwik/Chirag enters quarterfinals.

 India’s top shuttlers HS Prannoy and Satwik/Chirag Shetty progressed into the quarterfinals of the Super 750 India Open with contrasting wins at KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi on 18 th January 2024. HS Prannoy defeated Indian counterpart Pranshu Rajawat in three thrilling games. The first game was a closely fought encounter as both players fought for each point before Rajawat held onto his nerves to win the first game 22-20. Prannoy then showed his class with some lovely badminton winning the next two games at 21-14, and 21-14 to win the match in straight games. It was an impressive performance by Prannoy who held onto his nerves after losing the first game. He will now face Wang T W of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals. The 2 nd ranked Indian pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty defeated Lu C Y and Yang P Ha of Chinese Taipei. India Open 2024: HS Prannoy Progress Into The Second Round

 The Indian shuttlers had a decent outing as HS Prannoy progressed into the second round of the Super 750 India Open played at KD Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi on 16 th January 2024. HS Prannoy produced a dominating performance in the first round with a straight-set win over Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei. It was an impressive effort by Indian who looked in great form during the first set winning by 21-6. He showed his class with another superb effort to win the second set at 21-18 to move into the second round. Pranshu Rajawat stunned Indian teammate Lakshya Sen in three thrilling games. Lakshya Sen won the first game comfortably at 21-16 before Rajawat made a strong comeback winning the second game at 21-16 before winning the decider at 21-13 to move into the next round. FIH Olympic Qualifiers 2024: Indian Women’s Team thrash Italy to qualify for the semi-finals

 The Indian women’s team produced a dominating performance as they thrashed Italy in the final Pool B game played at Ranchi on 16 th January 2024. It was an ideal start for the Indian team as Udita converted a slap shot from the penalty corner in the 1 st minute itself to give the host a 1-0 lead. They kept the pressure on the Italian defense but were unable to score goals. Lalremsaimi was awarded a green card and sent out for 2 minutes. Italy earned a penalty corner, but counterattack shot yielded nothing. At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0. The second quarter began with the Indian team showing their possession but unable to convert it into a goal. Ivanna Passona was awarded a green card which meant Italy was a member short. The Indian team put enough pressure on the Italian defense but could not convert into goals. At the end of the first half, the scores remained 1-0.  The Indian shuttlers will look to showcase their skills in front of the home crowd when they take part in the Super 750 Indian Open that will take place from 16 th January at KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. In the men’s singles, HS Prannoy will have a tough challenge taking on Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the first round. He had a disappointing outing when he was knocked out in the first round of the Malaysia Open 2024 to Anders Anotsen in straight sets. Lakshya Sen will face Pranshu Rajawat in the first round during an all-India clash. Sen lost in the first round of the Malaysia Open while Rajawat will play for the 1 st time this year.  The Indian women kept their hopes of qualifying for the Paris Olympics with a comprehensive win over New Zealand in 2 nd match played at Ranchi on 14 th January 2024. It was an ideal start for the Indian women’s team as they got a goal in the very first minute itself with lovely field by Sangeeta Kumari. New Zealand made a strong comeback with a superb penalty corner by Hull Megan in the 9 th minute to level the scores at 1-1. The hosts showed their class as Udita scored from penalty corner in the 12 th minute giving India a 2-1 lead. Dung made it 3-1 with a superb field goal in the 14 th minute and ended 3-1 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter began with the Indian team earning a penalty corner but was unable to convert it into goal. Both teams tried their best to get goals but neither of them got goals.  The Indian pairing of Satwik/Chirag went down fighting to the number 1 ranked Chinese pairing of Liang and Wang in the finals of Super 1000 Malaysia Open played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 14 th January. Satwik/Chirag began the first set on an aggressive note putting pressure on the Chinese pair right from the word go. At the mid-game break, the Indian pairing had a commanding 11-4 lead. After the break, it was one-way traffic as Satwik/Chirag won the first game easily by 21-9. The second game saw the Chinese pair showing their domination over the Indian pairing. Liang and Wang played attacking shots making life tough for Satwik/Chirag. At the mid-game break, the Chinese pair had an 11-6 lead.  Satwik/Chirag Shetty showed their fighting spirit as they stunned World Champions Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Jeung Jae of South Korea in the semi-finals of the Super 1000 Malaysia Open played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 13 th January 2024. The Indian pairing started the first game on a positive note putting pressure on the World Champions. They continued their attacking style before Seo and Kang took 3 three points in succession.  The number 2 ranked Indian pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty stormed into the semi-finals of the Super 1000 Malaysia Open with a dominating win over the Chinese pair played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 12 th January 2024.
