  Delhi Capitals continued their winning form as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in match number 7 of WPL 2024 played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 29 th February 2024. RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to field first. Shafali Varma was given a reprieve as Shreyanka Patil dropped a simple chance. Meg Lanning struggled initially but Varma took the charge putting enough pressure on the RCB bowlers.   UP Warriorz finally opened their account with a commanding win over defending Champions Mumbai Indians played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on 28 th February 2024. UP Warriorz captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and decided to field first. Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Mathews looked cautious in the first three overs before putting pressure on UP Warriorz bowlers.  The Indian Women’s badminton team created history as they defeated Thailand in a thrilling 3-2 win during the finals of the Badminton Asia Team Championship played at Shah Alam, Malaysia on 18 th February 2024. It was an ideal start for the Indian team as PV Sindhu looked in great control defeating Kathegong in two straight games. Sindhu showed attacking skills winning by 21-12, 21-12 to help India 1-0 lead. The women’s doubles pairing of Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand edged past higher ranked Thai pair of Jongkolphan and Rawinda in three thrilling games. The first game saw both pairs fight for each point before Jolly and Gayatri won it by 21-16.  The Indian Women’s badminton team scripted history as they defeated Japan 3-2 in the semi-finals of the Asia team championship played at Shah Alam, Malaysia on 17 th February 2024. It was not an ideal start for the Indian team as PV Sindhu suffered a straight-game loss to Aya Ohori. The first game did not go well for the Indian as she lost it by 13-21. PV Sindhu showed great fighting spirit in the second game despite trailing most of the time. She equaled the scores at 20-20 before Ohori held onto her nerves to win by 22-20 giving Japan a 1-0 lead in the tie. The women’s doubles pair of Gayatri Gopichand and Tressa Jolly fought strongly to beat Nami Matsuyama and Shida in three games.  The Indian Men’s team went down fighting 2-3 in the last group match against China played at Shah Alam, Malaysia on 15 th February 2024. It was an ideal start for the Indians as HS Prannoy defeated Weng Hong in three games. The first game was a disappointing outing with Indian looking out of sorts losing with scoreline of 6-21. HS Prannoy made a strong comeback into the match fighting back each time he was trailing before winning the second game at 21-18.  The Indian Men’s Badminton Team started their journey in the Badminton Asia Team Championship with a resounding win over Hong Kong, China at Shah Alam, Malaysia on 14 th February 2024. It was not an ideal start for the Indian team as HS Prannoy suffered a straight-set loss to Na Ka Long Anus. Prannoy struggled initially but made a strong comeback in both games losing by 18-21, 14-21 giving Hong China a 1-0 lead. Satwik/Chirag Shetty cruised past Lui and Yeng in the first men’s doubles.  The Indian women’s team stunned favorites and top-seeded China in a thrilling contest played at Shah Alam, Malaysia on 14 th February 2024. PV Sindhu returned to court after a long layoff and showed her class with an impressive straight-sets win over Han Yue. The star Indian shuttler looked in great control and did not her Chinese opponent to win it by 21-17, 21-15 giving India a 1-0 lead in the tie. Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024- All You Need To Know

 The Indian Men’s and Women’s Team is set to take part in the Badminton Asia Team Championship at Shah Alam, Malaysia. It promises to be an exciting tournament as it will see the return of PV Sindhu in the women’s section while the men’s section will feature top quality players including HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag, Dhruv Kapila, and MR Arjun. The tie comprises 3 singles and 2 doubles. Indian men’s team will face Hong Kong, China in the first match tomorrow 14 th  of February, and then take on China on the 15 th . Indian men’s team made it into the semi-finals of the 2023 edition and is one of the favorites to win the gold medal. There are a total of 4 groups of 4 teams each with the top two qualifying for the knockout stage. In the women’s section, India has already made it into the next round as there is only China.
