FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2025: Indian Team Starts With A Dominating Win

  The Indian men’s junior hockey team started the World Cup journey with a dominating win over Chile played at Major Radhakrishnan Stadium, Chennai on 28 th November 2025. Indian team began the first quarter with high intent putting consistent pressure on Chile defense but enable to convert into goals. India eventually earned a penalty corner which was well saved by Chile goalkeeper Richard Phillipe. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0. It was a perfect start for India in the second quarter as Rosan Kujur scored a field goal inside circle in 16 th minute to give them 1-0 lead. A brilliant pass by midline and Kujur tapped during 21 st minute allowing India double the lead. Dilraj Singh scored lovely goal from penalty corner in 25 th minute to make it 3-0 in favor of India. Syed Modi International Tournament: Indian Shuttlers Qualify For The Semi-Finals

  The Indian shuttlers including men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles and women’s doubles made into the semi-finals of the Super 300 Syed Modi International tournament played in Lucknow on 28 th November 2025. Srikanth Kidambi won after Pranshu Rajawat retired after the interval in second game. Kidambi looked in great touch putting Rajawat under immense pressure right from word go to win the first game at 21-14. The second game saw Srikanth continued his brilliant run putting Rajawat under pressure at 11-4 before Rajawat retired hurt due to an injury. Mithun Manjunath defeated M Singh in two straight games. It was a closely fought affair in the first game before Manjunath won by 21-18. The second game saw Manjunath dominated Singh to win with scoreline of 21-13 to move into the semi-finals. FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2025: All You Need To Know About The Tournament

  The stage is set as 24 teams will participate for the first time in the 2025 FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup starting from tomorrow onwards at Madurai and Chennai. India qualified as the hosts of the tournament. Argentina, Canada & Chile made it into event making from Junior Pan American Championship played from 3-12 th July 2024. Belgium, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands &Spain qualified from the Euro Hockey Under 21 Championship played from 14 th -20 th July 2024. Bangladesh, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, qualified from Junior Asia Cup played from 26 th November-4 th December 2024. Oman replaced Pakistan for this mega event. Australia, New Zealand were the two spots confirmed from Junior Oceania Cup from 30 th January to 2 nd February 2025.   The Indian men’s hockey team edged past New Zealand in a thrilling contest of their 4 th match of the Sultan Azlan Shah tournament played at Ipoh, Malaysia on 27 th November 2025. In the first 2 minutes of first quarter, New Zealand created multiple chances but not able to convert into goals. Amit Rohidas converted a lovely penalty corner into a goal in the 4 th minute to give India 1-0 lead. After that goal, the Indian team put consistent pressure but New Zealand defense remained solid enough. At the end of first quarter, scores remained 1-0 in favor of India.   The Indian men’s hockey team registered three vital points with a thrilling win in their 3 rd match of the Sultan Azlan Shah 2025 against hosts Malaysia played at Ipoh on 26 th November. Indian team started the first quarter on a positive note putting pressure on the Malaysian team. With less than 3 minutes left, Indian team awarded penalty corner but overturned due to review by Malaysia. Kartik Selvam scored a brilliant field goal in the 7 th minute to give India 1-0 lead. Malaysia also earned their first PC but they lost their review. Yashdeep Siwach was awarded a green card meaning 2-minute suspension.   Star Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen stunned Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei to enter the finals of the Super 500 Australian Open 2025 played at Sydney on 22 nd November. Lakshya Sen struggled initially as there were long rallies which Chou dominated which put the Indian under immense pressure. At the mid-game interval, Chou maintained 11-6 lead. After the break, Chou continued to play attacking badminton not allowing Sen to chance. Both players featured in a long 44 shots rally which helped Chen a match point. Despite Sen efforts, Chou won the first game at 21-17. The second game began well for both players as they took alternate points. It was a closely fought affair till 9-9.   It was a mixed day for the Indian shuttlers as 3 out of 6 made into the quarterfinals of Super 500 Australian Open 2025 played at Sydney on 20 th November 2025. The men’s doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty cruised past their Chinese Taipei opponents Su Ching Hing and Wu Guan Xian in two straight games with scoreline of 21-18, 21-11 in just 37 minutes. It was a struggle for the Indian pairing in initial stages as they made unforced errors. After the mid-game break, Satwik/Chirag showed class putting the Chinese Taipei under pressure to level scores at 17-17. They maintained the pressure to win points in succession winning first game by 21-18. Satwik/Chirag looked in sublime touch during the 2 nd game dominating right from the word go.   The Indian shuttlers had an outstanding day with all of them entering into round 2 of the Super 500 Australian Open played at Sydney on 19 th November 2025. Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Tharun Mannepalli, Srikanth Kidambi, Ayush Shetty all progressed into the second round with contrasting wins. Tharun Mannepalli defeated M Johannsen of Denmark in three thrilling games. The first game saw the Indian dominating his opponent to win by 21-13. Johannsen fought back strongly in second game before winning it with scoreline of 21-17. It was a very closely fought affair in deciding game before Tharun held onto his nerves to win by 21-19.   The rising Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen cruised past former champion Loh Kiean Yew of Singapore in two straight games during quarterfinals of the Super 500 Japan Masters played at Kumamoto, Japan on 14 th November 2025. Loh Kiean Yew began the first game on a positive note with attacking shots and put pressure on Lakshya Sen. However, the Indian star showed class making a strong comeback not allowing any chances for his opponent. At the mid-game break, Sen had 11-8 lead.
