Indian women beat Bangladesh to qualify for World Cup 2017

India continued their excellent form by beating Bangladesh by 9 wickets in Super Six match today to qualify for World Cup 2017 to be held in England later this year. Indian women played excellent cricket and dominated Bangladesh team right from the start. Winning the toss India elected to field. The Indian bowlers did an excellent job restricting Bangladesh to modest 155 for 8 in 50 overs. M Joshi was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 28 in 10 overs. The other Indian bowlers did also an excellent job.   While chasing this target, the Indian team did not have a great start losing the wicket of Mona Deepti Sharma for 1. After that Mithali Raj and Mona Meshram dominated the Bangladesh bowlers putting on unbroken 136 runs for the second wicket. IPL 2017 schedule released

The much awaited Indian Premier League is back as the schedule for the 2017 edition has been announced today. The opening match of IPL 2017 will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on 5 th April. Defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on runners up of last year Royal Challengers in the first at Hyderabad. The 2017 edition has 10 venues and spread over 47 days. Each team has to play 14 matches out of which 7 will be at home. 2017 edition will the return of Indore as venue for the first time since 2011. The finals will be played on 21 st May at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. In the 2017 auction 351 players will be up to the auction on 20 th February the council body confirmed. India defeated Bangladesh by 208 runs in one off test match at Hyderabad and consolidated their position at the top of ICC test rankings. With the upcoming four test matches against Australia starting from 23 rd February, India has a chance to end as the number 1 ranked team in test matches at annual cut off date off April 1 st . With the win over Bangladesh, India have earned one point and are at 121 points. To retain the number 1 test team, India must win one off the four test matches. The Australian team need to defeat India by 3-0 or 4-0 to reclaim the number 1 rank in test matches. South Africa will take on New Zealand in three match test series next month. Adam Voges announces retirement from international cricket

Australia middle order batsmen Adam Voges has decided to retire from international cricket earlier today.   "This will be it for me," Voges said. "I'm certainly looking forward to getting out there and playing this game. I've had an amazing couple of years with Australia with the Test team and I've loved every minute of it. "I see this as a last opportunity to play against an international team and I'm certainly looking forward to that." Voges made his test debut against West Indies in 2015. Since his debut he has played 20 test matches with the best score of 269 against New Zealand. In 2016, he did not perform according to expectations against South Africa at home and was dropped for the third test match. BCCI have retained the same 16 man squad for the first two test matches against Australia starting from 23 rd February. Abhinav Mukund, Kuldeep Yadav and Karun Nair have been named in the 16 man squad. India played the same squad for one off test match against Bangladesh. Mohammad Shami has not recovered from his injury. Rohit Sharma who injured his hamstring during the fifth ODI against New Zealand is not selected. India has been on a roll not losing a test match since August 2015. The Men in Blue are currently the number 1 ranked test team in the world. Lessons to be learnt from India- Bangladesh test match

India defeated Bangladesh by 208 runs in the one off test match at Hyderabad on the fifth and final day. It was a spirited by the Bangladesh team batted more than 100 overs in both innings but the Indian team dominated the test match right from the start. India won the toss and elected to bat first. After the dismissal of KL Rahul earlier in the match, contributions from Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rahane, Wriddihman Saha and Jadeja helped the hosts to post a massive total of 687 for 6. Murali Vijay scored his 9 th test century while Virat Kohli scored his 4 th double century in his test carrier. Then wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha scored his 2 nd test century. India ended the first day in a dominating position against Bangladesh at 356 for 3 that was played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara 200 runs partnership set the foundation for a big total. Virat Kohli and Rahane partnership has ensured that India ends the first day in a strong position. After winning the toss India elected to bat first. KL Rahul was dismissed by Taskin Ahmed in the very first over itself for 2 runs only. Mohit Ahalwat becomes the first cricketer to score triple century in T20 cricket

Mohit Ahalwat created a unique record by becoming the first cricketer to score triple century in T20 cricket. He achieved this feat during a T20 match playing for Maavi XI in local tournament at Delhi’s  Lalita Park against Friends XI today. This is the first time that a player has scored a triple century in a T20 match at any level. During his 300 not out knock he hit 39 sixes and 14 boundaries which came off 72 balls only. His efforts helped Maavi XI to score 416 in 20 overs. His partners Gaurav scored 86 off 39 balls. Maavi XI won the match by 216 runs. For Delhi, Mohit Ahawlat played 3 first class games but could not contribute only 5 runs. Mohit played his last first class game in 2015 against Haryana. Alistair Cook steps down as captain of England team

  Alistair Cook has decided to resign as the captain of England test team. Cook decided to resign captaincy after the team had lost 0-4 in the test series against India played in November- December 2016. He is one the most successful England captains winning the Ashes series in 2013 and 2015 at home. In 2012 Cook won a memorable test series win over India in India and also defeated South Africa in South Africa. Alistair Cook was appointed in 2012 and led England in 59 test matches. Apart from that he has led England in 69 One day internationals between 2010 and 2014. Cook is the most successful batsmen for England scoring 11057 runs in 140 test matches till date.
