FIH Pro Hockey League 2022: Indian men’s team suffer loss to Spain

 After a stunning comeback win in the first match, the Indian men’s team suffered a loss to Spain in the 2 nd tie of the Pro Hockey League 2022 tournament played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Sunday. It was a superb beginning by both teams before Abishek with a brilliant run to give India the lead in the 6 th minute. The Indian team dominated the play keeping pressure on Spain's defense. 2 minutes before the end of the first quarter, Spain earned a penalty corner that was converted by Pau Cunil in the 14 th minute to level scores at 1-1. Soon after, Tarres scored brilliant skills to give Spain a 2-1 lead and ended the first quarter with a 2-1 scoreline.  The Indian men’s team continued their winning momentum as they cruised to a convincing win over Sri Lanka in the 3 rd T20I match played at HPCA Stadium, Dharmshala on Sunday. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bat first. Mohammed Siraj and Avesh Khan asked tough questions of Sri Lankan openers. Siraj castled Gunathilka stumps to deny Sri Lanka a good start. Avesh Khan looked impressive with his lines and lengths two wickets of Nissanka and Asalanaka in quick succession to leave Lanka in trouble.  The Indian women’s hockey team suffered a last-minute loss to Spain in the 2nd leg of Pro Hockey League 2022 played at Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Sunday. It was an ideal start for the visitors as B Garcia scored a superb field goal in the 4 th minute to Spain's 1-0 lead. Spain put enough pressure on the Indian defense with attacking play. Spain could have doubled the lead but a brilliant save by Savita denied the visitors the goal. Sangita Kumari making her international debut for India scored a beautiful reverse flick diving inside the D as there was no defense from Spain in the 10 th minute to level the score.  The Indian women’s team showed their skills to register a close-fought game against the visiting Spain side played at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Saturday. Spain dominated the possession right from word go. They kept the pressure on the Indian defense with attacking play but could not convert chances. The visitors earned their first penalty corner but were well defended. Spain kept pressure with consistent circle penetrations. The visitors missed a few chances. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 0-0.  The Indian men’s hockey team registered a thrilling edge-of-the-seat thriller in the opening home match against Spain played at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhuvneshwar on Saturday. It was an amazing game of hockey as both teams showed great fight and courage. Spain got the first chance as they got the penalty corner in the 5 th minute, but the shot went wide. Soon after, India earned a penalty corner, but the goal was disallowed for dangerous play as Spain went for a review. All you need to know about Tata IPL 2022

 The much-awaited news around the world has come with the Groups and format of Tata IPL 2022 has been announced by IPL governing council. In this year’s format, there are two groups of five teams each. The teams will play twice each other in the same group before taking on the other group once. There will be a total of 14 matches each playing in 4 venues namely Brabourne Stadium, Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, and MCA Stadium, Pune. The tournament will begin on the 26 th of March and would finish on 29 th May. This is going to be a great IPL 2022 with Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans in this year’s IPL. All these have been seeded based on the number of times they won the title or reach the finals. Wankhede Stadium will host 20 matches, followed by Brabourne Stadium with 15, DY Patil Stadium with 20, and MCA Stadium would feature 15 matches. Two Teams qualify for the first round of ICC Men’s World T20

 Two spots were grabbed as Ireland and United Arab Emirates qualified for the first round of ICC Men’s World T20 to be played in Australia later this year. Known as ICC World T20 Cup Global Qualifiers A played in Oman. Ireland was placed with United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Germany in Group A. They finished top of Pool A losing to only UAE in the opening match. After that, Ireland defeated Bahrain and then put aside Germany with a better net run rate than UAE and Bahrain.
