Indian hockey team starts Europe tour with a thumping win over Germany

  After a one-year gap, the Indian Men’s hockey started the Europe tour with a thumping 6-1 win over Germany played at Krefeld on Sunday. The Indian hockey team put the pressure right from the word go on the Germans. After creating lots of chances, India earned a penalty corner in the 13 th minute. Nilkanta produced a brilliant goal to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. In the next minute, Constain Saib leveled the score with a superb field goal. At the end of the first quarter, the scores remained 1-1. It was a superb start for the Germans putting pressure on the Indians and earned two back-to-back penalty corners in the first few minutes.   After defeating Bangladesh in the opening match of the World Cup 2011, the hosts and visitors England were involved in a thrilling tie played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on 27 th February. The Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Virender Sehwag looked in explosive touch putting pressure on the England bowlers right from the word go.
