  The Indian men’s hockey team registered the 2nd win of the tournament with a comfortable win over Ireland in Paris on 30 th July 2024. It was a great start for the Indian team as they earned a penalty corner in the very first minute, the shot was well blocked by Ireland's defense. India was awarded a penalty stroke with Manpreet Singh fouled inside the D. Harmanpreet Singh converted a stroke into a goal in the 11 th minute to give a 1-0 lead. India kept the pressure on Ireland's defense with aggressive intent. At the end of the first quarter, India led 1-0. The second quarter saw the Indian team lose a review for a penalty corner.  India and Argentina played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in their second Group B match of the men’s hockey competition of the Paris Olympics played in Paris on 29 th July 2024. The Indian hockey team put enough pressure with aggressive moves but the Argentina defense stood tall. Abhishek missed a golden chance as it hit the goalpost.   The Indian Men’s Hockey Team registered a thrilling win over New Zealand in the first Group B match played in Paris on 27 th July 2024. It was an ideal start for New Zealand Same Lane converted a penalty corner in the 8 th minute. Black Sticks dominated possession putting pressure on the Indian defense. Indian team almost got a chance at the end of the first quarter but could not convert it into a goal. At the end of the first quarter, New Zealand led 1-0.   The Indian shuttlers including Lakshya Sen and doubles pairing of Satwik/Chirag Shetty began the Paris Olympics on a winning note played in Paris on 27 th July 2024. Lakshya Sen defeated Guatemala Kevin Cordon in a Group L match. It was a dominating performance by the Indian keeping the pressure on the opposition with smashes. The Indian dominated with smashes winning the first game easily by a scoreline of 21-8. The second game did not start well for the Indian as he committed lots of unforced errors. Kevin Cordon looked impressive keeping momentum with an 11-6 lead at the mid-game interval. After the break, Sen made a strong fightback and reduced the margin.   The Sri Lankan Women’s team registered a thrilling victory over Pakistan in the 2 nd Semi-finals of the Asia Cup 2024 played in Dambulla on 26 th July. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atthaptu won the toss and decided to field first. Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali looked in positive touch keeping the scoreboard ticking with some shots not allowing Lankan bowlers to settle.   Sri Lanka began the tournament with a resounding win over Bangladesh in their opening match. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and decided to bat first. The left-arm medium-pace bowler Prabodhani struck twice in the first over dismissing Dilara Akter and Rubiya Haider. Fernando got rid of Ishma Tanjim to leave Bangladesh struggling at 6 for 3.
