 The Indian team continued their winning run as they defeated Hong Kong comfortably played at Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday. Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss and decided to field first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul looked cautious in the first 2 overs. The Indian openers took on Haroon Rashid in his 2 nd over smashing him for 22 runs to change the momentum.  The Indian shuttlers continued their impressive run as 2 doubles pairing and one more singles player made it into the quarterfinals of the prestigious BWF World Championship event played in Tokyo on Thursday. Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun proved their worth again as they defeated the Singapore pair of Hee Yong and Loh Kean in three games.  The England bowlers made a strong comeback as they put up a solid display in helpful bowling conditions on the 1 st day of the 2 nd Test match played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Thursday. South African captain Dean Elgar won the toss and decided to bat first. Ollie Robinson and James Anderson troubled South African openers Erwee and Elgar with the ball going past the edge many times.  The England Cricket Team announced their playing XI for the 2 nd Test match against visiting South African side to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester from tomorrow onwards. It was a disappointing performance by the hosts as they lost the first Test match by an innings and 12 runs inside 3 days. After being invited in tough batting conditions, England could only post 165 runs in the first innings. In reply, South Africa took a substantial 161 runs in the first innings. It was another disappointing effort by the England team in their second innings as they were bowled out for 149 runs.  The top Indian shuttlers registered impressive wins on the opening day of BWF World Championship 2022 played in Tokyo on Monday. It was a decent day for male shuttlers as HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth won their respective matches. The only disappointment was Sai Praneeth giving a tough fight for world number 4 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei.  The 2022 Asia Cup qualifying tournament is about to start on 20 th August to be played in Muscat, Oman. Four teams will take part including Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and United Arab Emirates. The winner of this qualifying tournament would be grouped with Pakistan and India in Group A of the main round starting on 27 th August 2022. Due to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates reaching the finals Western Region Group also advanced to the Asia Cup qualifying tournament.
