New number 1 ranked batsmen in latest ICC Test rankings

  After the Test matches between India- Australia, and New Zealand- Pakistan, there have been changes in the latest ICC Test rankings announced today. Kiwis captain Kane Williamson overtakes Steve Smith to occupy the number 1 Test batsman rankings. He made 129 runs in the first innings of the first Test match played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, and was named the man of the match award for his match-winning knock. The Indian captain Virat Kohli who is currently not featuring in the Test series remains at the number 2 position. After scoring 0 and 8 in the 2 nd Test match against India at MCG, Steve Smith slips down 2 places down to number 3.   After defeating Pakistan in the first Test match at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui by 101 runs today, New Zealand officially became the number 1 ranked Test side in the world. It is a historic moment for the Kiwis as they dethroned Australia and go top of the rankings for the first time in their history.
