South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to field first. It was a cautious start by Kusal Perera and Pathum Nissanka.  It was a good day as 3 Indian shuttlers performed well at the Super 750 French Open tournament played in Paris, France on Thursday. In the men’s singles, Lakshya Sen defeated Loh KY of Singapore in two straight games.  The Indian shuttlers had a good opening day of Super 1000 French Open 2021 played in Paris, France on Wednesday. Kidambi Srikanth played his heart out before losing to World number 1 Kento Momota in thrilling three games. It was a great start by the Indian taking an early 4-0 lead initially before Momota leveled the score. Srikanth then took an 8-5 lead before the Japanese took a slender 11-10 lead.  Scotland achieved a huge milestone as they finished top of Group B in the qualifying round played at Al Amerat Stadium, Muscat. They performed brilliantly winning all three matches defeating Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, and Oman. Scotland created a major upset as they defeated a strong Bangladesh side in their opening match. After being reduced to 53 for 6, Chris Greaves and Mark Watt rescued putting on 51 runs for the 7 th wicket.
